Client Information

Over the past years Palantir has developed a solid long-term working relationship with our client, one of the largest European utilities with ambitious upstream growth targets and assets in Europe and North Africa.

Objective

The client needed tools, processes, expertise and training to develop a live portfolio management solution. This had to enable them to track the portfolio against the corporate strategy and provide management with instant portfolio views so they could make better and quicker decisions.

Palantir’s Role

In collaboration with the client, Palantir consultants developed a detailed work plan with specific tasks, timelines and deliverables which included training, custom setup, software tools and a methodology for the client to use going forward. At the heart of the success of the project was the application of PalantirSUITE, Spotfire® and state-of-the-art portfolio risking methods, as well as expert data integration knowledge and the skills of our consultants. PalantirCASH and PalantirPLAN were used to model the client’s portfolio in real time and compare against strategic targets in order to make the necessary adjustments to reach them. PalantirPLAN allows the visualisation of the impact on corporate performance from portfolio decisions such as asset divestment and/or postponement of project investments. The shortfall between portfolio performance and company targets can be quickly quantified for various development scenarios and market conditions.

Benefit to the Client

The "live" portfolio management solution delivered through PalantirCASH and PalantirPLAN allows the company to evaluate progress vs. strategy in real time, and has fostered engagement and improved communication between commercial and technical experts.
