Palantir is pleased to invite you to the first in our new seminar series on ‘Decision Analysis’ in the oil and gas industry on the 30th of November 2007 in Aberdeen between 9:30am and 1:30pm.
One of the world’s foremost experts on the topic, Reidar Bratvold, a Professor of Petroleum Investment & Decision Analysis at the University of Stavanger, is co-presenting the half-day seminar with host Bart Willigers, a senior consultant at upstream risk analysis software specialist - Palantir Solutions.
The seminar will explore the following topics:
What it means to make “high-quality” decisions and an illustration of the pitfalls in taking a risk averse attitude or failing to adopt a consistent approach to decision making
How an inconsistent approach to decision making leads to mediocre results with actual outcomes consistently worse than estimated
Whether “a culture of mediocrity” exists in the industry with companies struggling to deliver on their promises
Categories of risk and an explanation of how E&P companies can model different risk types to unveil the value associated with managerial flexibility.
